The police broke down the door to the sound of explosions, burst into the professor's apartment and beat him. They put a gun to his wife's head, and then handcuffed the couple.
Law enforcement officers in Germany got into trouble. They were conducting an operation to detain a criminal who was wanted, but they got to the wrong apartment and detained a local university professor, who was also beaten for resisting.
The incident took place in the city of Bielefeld. The SEK special forces unit, conducting a special operation to detain a wanted criminal, mistakenly broke into an apartment and brutally beat a university professor. Along with Dr. Amir Jahanian-Najafabadi, his wife was also beaten.
"I heard a loud explosion. I saw armed men in masks behind the glass door and thought I was going to die," Jahanian-Najafabadi said.
The police broke down the door, broke into the professor's apartment, caught him and threw him on the bed, where they hit him several times. They held a gun to his wife's head, and then handcuffed the couple.
"When I said my name, they realized they had attacked the wrong person," the professor recalls.
Realizing their mistake, the police wiped the blood off the victim and left. Jahanian-Najafabadi was hospitalized after the security forces' visit. The police only expressed regret over the incident.
"We are very sorry that an innocent person was injured as a result of the police operation," they said.
