In India, a schoolboy was sacrificed for the sake of a school's prosperity (6 photos)

And this country launches lunar missions, competes with China in growth rates, and... well, that's it. It's amazing how such contradictions can fit into one country.

Write this down: bring candles to their home, we'll practice dark rituals.

What happened in an ordinary Indian school

It all happened on September 23 in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh (the very state with the highest number of "cow avengers" who smash trucks carrying beef). The teachers kidnapped an 11-year-old boy, who was only in second grade (which is actually quite late).

And along with other students (! What an example for children!), they sacrificed him in exchange for his life in exchange for the school's prosperity. As they themselves said during interrogation, "to bring it success and glory."

Judging by the photo, the school really isn't very wealthy; it needs prosperity.

Since it was a private school with dormitories, it was very easy to pull off. The boy's death wasn't immediately discovered. His classmates found him strangled long after the incident.

Apparently, those classmates who weren't informed thought it was for the school's benefit. The administration initially told the parents that their son had simply fallen ill and wouldn't be returning home, but would be taken to a hospital in the city.

In India, it's common for severely underachieving students to be in a class with regular second-graders, hence the adults in the class.

But police and paramedics quickly determined that he had been strangled. Now, not only are three teachers under arrest, but even Principal Lakshman Singh has been charged. He confessed that his father and the school owner had asked him to perform the sacrifice. Various ritual objects were found on all of them.

They kidnapped a student from the dormitory and took him to a secluded place for the sacrifice, but the student woke up and began crying. Afterwards, they strangled him, as all those involved have already testified.

The police took the arrest of the "teachers' club" very seriously.

As it turns out, this wasn't their first attempt at a sacrifice. Previously, they had their sights set on another student – a 10-year-old boy.

While schools are closed, parents are calling for the death penalty (legal in India) for all those involved.

The Glitter and Poverty of India

Meanwhile, in India, there's also this...

This isn't the usual "typical Indian thing" I love, where Indians steal a huge bridge from under everyone's noses or a husband tries to kill his wife by slipping a cobra into her bed in the morning. But this is definitely a cross-section of Indian society today, and it's such a cross-section that it's simply mind-boggling!

India is already aiming for the Moon, and suddenly – such savagery and obscurantism among an entire group of people with higher education. After all, these were teachers and even a school principal! This all fit into their worldview, despite the "gloss of education," because internal national beliefs prove stronger than any first-generation civilization.

This is the Indian lunar rover. I can't wrap my head around it!

But the question is, how many more generations must pass if they still can't get rid of the caste system?
