In the US, a high school student pepper-sprayed a teacher over a confiscated phone (4 photos + 1 video)
Antioch High School in Nashville, where a 17-year-old student opened fire in the cafeteria this January, has once again attracted attention. During class, 18-year-old student Kayla Smith attacked teacher Caleb Bates. She pepper-sprayed him when he took her phone. 
Video of the incident quickly spread on social media, sparking a furious backlash and new proposals for stricter rules.
Smith, who was expelled from the school after the incident, has been arrested and charged. This is the second time that teacher Bates has been attacked. Just two months ago, another student punched him after being caught cheating. 
On October 31, the Antioch High School football team was unable to participate in a game scheduled for Thursday evening due to a code of conduct violation.
"While I am legally prohibited from disclosing the details of the incident, I can confirm that a significant portion of the team was involved," Principal John Jimno said. 
On January 22, 2025, 17-year-old Solomon Henderson opened fire in the school cafeteria, killing one student and wounding another, before shooting himself.
