In China, students were forced to sign a suicide statement, removing responsibility from the school (2 photos)
The document was developed at a middle school in Guangdong Province. The school's management approved it independently, without consulting with the authorities. The statement was criticized by students and their parents. The Department of Education launched an investigation into the incident.
It turned out that teachers held lectures in classes called "valuing life", in which they talked about the need to remain optimistic and not harm themselves. At the end of the meetings, students were forced to sign a letter of commitment promising to always value life and never give it up under any circumstances.
The second part of the letter read: "If I commit self-harm or suicide, it will have nothing to do with the school. I, my parents or guardians will not claim any losses or seek any compensation from the school or school staff, and will not interfere with the teaching at the school."
The Department of Education called the content of the document unacceptable. The school management was obliged to cancel the children's applications and henceforth approve programs aimed at the psychological well-being of students.
