In Brazil, a vulture crashed into a passenger plane and broke the windshield (2 photos + 2 videos)
The passengers are fine, but I feel sorry for the bird.
A passenger flight of a single-engine plane almost ended in tragedy when a bird of prey crashed into it and broke through the windshield. Not the rarest, but unpleasant emergency situation occurred on December 5 with the airliner flying to the municipality of Eirunepe in Brazil. There were five passengers and a pilot on board.
The vulture crashed into the plane during takeoff. It is noted that the pilot was initially confused, since the bird blocked his view, and drops of blood and feathers flew into the cabin, not counting the powerful gust of air through the broken glass. Nevertheless, he managed to successfully land the plane at the departure airport. And no one except the bird and the plane was hurt.
"We thought we would not get out alive. It was a miracle to land when the pilot got hit in the face with something like that," one of the passengers said about the incident.
Local media write that the pilots blame a garbage dump located near the airport for the incident. Many birds flock there to crash into planes. But this time, it was not a seagull that collided with the plane, but a large bird of prey, which, according to the passengers, was holding prey in its beak.
A similar, but less "traumatic" incident for the aircraft occurred in China. And also on December 5. Airbus A320-214 of Air China collided with a small flock of birds while landing at Xiamen Gaoqi Airport. As a result of the collision, almost the entire flock apparently died. However, the airliner was not damaged. A few hours later, after a visual inspection in Xiamen, the aircraft took off on a return flight to Chengdu.
