One of the passengers on the Vorkuta-Novorossiysk train published a video from the scene of the emergency:
The preliminary cause of the accident with train No. 511 Vorkuta - Novorossiysk was the undermining of the track after heavy rains, Russian Railways reported.
The photo and video that has already appeared online shows that the cars are lying several tens of meters from the railway in the water. People break out windows, climb out themselves and try to save their luggage.
Near the overturned multi-ton colossus of wagons there are things that we managed to pull out. Water is pouring into the carriages through the windows.
According to the latest data, more than 70 people were injured in the emergency. The number is increasing every minute.
Medics rushed to the scene of the carriage derailment, but due to the impassability of the road, it was almost impossible for an ambulance to get to the scene. Three helicopters were sent to the scene of the emergency.
The head of Komi, Vladimir Uyba, said that it is impossible to get to the scene of the incident in Komi, where the cars derailed, by vehicle, because there are no roads nearby - there is taiga and swamps all around:
The planes will transport seriously injured people to hospitals. Preliminarily, there are about 10 such people. It is also clarified that there were no organized groups of children going on vacation.
Those passengers who were not injured will be sent on another train along their original route, to Novorossiysk, the Vorkuta mayor's office reports.
