A resident of India "rose from the dead" a moment before cremation (5 photos + 1 video)
Rohitash Kumar, 45, was declared dead in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan, on Thursday. However, moments before he was cremated on a funeral pyre, he showed weak signs of life. 
The Indian man reportedly suffered cardiac arrest on November 20, but doctors did not perform an autopsy.
Deaf and mute Rohitash spent three hours in a cold morgue before staff noticed he was still breathing. An ambulance was immediately called and he was taken to the hospital. 
Kumar is an orphan and lives in a shelter home.
Jhunjhunu Superintendent of Police Sharad Chowdhary said, "When the man was admitted to the hospital, he was not accompanied by his relatives. The patient's condition had deteriorated rapidly and he showed no signs of life. Doctors were supposed to conduct a post-mortem but they did nothing. They simply completed the paperwork and sent the man for cremation. When he was placed on the pyre, he regained consciousness." 
Local media reported that Rohitash died in the intensive care unit on the morning of November 22.
The chief physician and three doctors have been suspended from work due to charges of negligence. 
A similar incident occurred in the US state of Iowa last year. A woman was found suffocated in a body bag while being prepared for cremation.
The 66-year-old pensioner suffered from dementia, anxiety and depression. Doctors at Glen Oaks Alzheimer's declared her dead after she became unresponsive. The woman was placed in a body bag and taken to Ankeny Funeral Home and Crematory. However, when workers unzipped the bag, they were surprised to find that the woman was alive. 
A nurse testified during the inquest that she checked on the patient every hour throughout the night. On the doctor's orders, she administered morphine and lorazepam to calm her down. The woman later became unresponsive, not breathing, and had no pulse. She was officially declared dead about 90 minutes later, and was "resurrected" two hours later.
