In Kazakhstan, a girl died after attempting to fix 18 teeth at once (2 photos + 1 video)
The Astana Interdistrict Court is hearing a case against an anesthesiologist at a private dental clinic where a little girl died. The clinic wanted to treat 18 of the child's teeth at once.
A young patient with extremely problematic teeth was admitted to a clinic in Astana. After examining the girl's mouth, the doctors decided to treat 18 teeth at once. Her father says the initial plan was to treat 9-11 teeth, and he requested a gradual approach.
However, the doctor and anesthesiologist decided to do everything at once, despite the child's age and the risks. After administering general anesthesia, the doctors got to work.
As a result, the girl fell into a sleep from which she was unable to awaken—her heart gave out. It turned out that she had contracted pneumonia some time before her visit to the doctor.
The patient never fully recovered from her illness, and her lung function did not fully recover. This could have caused oxygen deprivation when the medication was administered.
The anesthesiologist was taken to court, but she pleaded not guilty. The case is ongoing, and there are specific complaints against the anesthesiologist: she was listening to music during the procedure, did not immediately call an ambulance, and did not use a defibrillator.
