In the US, an obese American family starved their 14-year-old daughter to severe exhaustion (5 photos)
The child was homeschooled, isolated from society, and given virtually no food. At the time of his discovery, the teenager weighed approximately 20 kilograms.
A family in the United States has been arrested for abusing their 14-year-old daughter, causing her to become severely malnourished. The girl weighed only 16 kilograms, significantly underweight for her age. The family, from Outagamie County, Wisconsin, isolated the teenager, constantly monitored his diet, and deprived him of social contact, constantly monitoring him through a webcam installed in their room.
According to police, the family of four—the child's biological father, Walter Goodman, his wife, Melissa, as well as Melissa's adult daughter, Savana Lefever, and her friend—had been abusing the girl since 2020. The child was adopted by her father's family when the girl's mother was sent to prison.

With the tacit consent of the father, the teenager was constantly restricted in her diet due to alleged poor digestion. The girl frequently vomited, so the parent decided that the best way to relieve the nausea and vomiting was to fast and drink regular water on a regular schedule. Since 2020, the child has been homeschooled and practically confined to her room. Relatives have claimed the girl suffers from autism and insomnia, and her father even once said he would leave her in the woods if he could.

Last August, the girl's father called 911 about his daughter's critical condition: she was semi-conscious, and when they carried her out of the house, according to a neighbor, the unfortunate girl looked like a lifeless doll. She was thin and very small.

According to medical reports, the teenager was on the verge of death. The girl was diagnosed with respiratory and heart failure, hepatitis, pancreatitis, and severe malnutrition. For some time, she was fed through a feeding tube, and when she was able to eat on her own, medical staff noted that her eyes literally "lit up."
The victim's condition has significantly improved; she has already been discharged from the hospital and is gradually recovering. The investigation is ongoing for all those detained; they face up to 80 years in prison for physical and emotional abuse. Incidentally, all family members are overweight—it's hard to imagine how these people could accuse an emaciated child of supposed gluttony.
This crime sparked widespread public outcry and once again raised questions about the need for careful monitoring of domestic cases of child abuse.
