Robert Pickton gained notoriety after being charged with murder in the 26 murders of women on his farm near Vancouver. Recently he was killed by a cellmate. The man serving a life sentence was 71 years old.

The serial killer was active in Canada from 1997 to 2001. He lured women to his Vancouver farm, where he killed them and then fed their bodies to pigs, which he raised and sold at market.

Among the dead were drug addicts and prostitutes - no one was looking for many of them after they disappeared, so the murders were not known for a long time. It was only after years of investigation into dozens of missing women that the police descended on Pickton’s farm.

However, the walk-through was rather formal, because... they were looking for unregistered weapons, which farmers, as a rule, always had in abundance. This was not considered a special crime, but information was required for the report. At the same time, the police asked whether the farmers had seen women who had disappeared in the area. Pickton, of course, said he saw nothing.

However, the policeman noticed an asthma inhaler on the farm with a name that he remembered from the morning routine - it was the name of the missing woman. The farm owner could not explain where he got the inhaler. When arrested, he shouted “You won’t prove anything!” After Pickton was taken away, the farm area turned into an excavation field for a long time. Experts looked for fragments of bodies and other evidence - and found them. them in the bedding on which the pigs were kept. Refrigerators were filled with pieces of corpses, and traces of human DNA were also found on the meat grinder that was turning minced meat for sale.

Then law enforcement officers managed to find fragments of the bodies of 33 women on the farm, although the ranch owner, in a conversation with a decoy police officer, later boasted that there were about 49 victims on his list, and regretted that only one was missing from the round number.

But at the trial he never admitted his guilt, despite a mountain of evidence.

Pickton was charged with 26 murders. The trial of the maniac took place in 2007, and he was sentenced to life imprisonment. He served his sentence in Quebec, but he was not in solitary confinement, for which he paid. On May 19, the killer was attacked by his cellmate. The details of the incident are unknown, but after the attack, Pickton was in a coma when he was admitted to hospital. where he died.

The 51-year-old prisoner of the Port Cartier institution, who killed a maniac, seems to have every chance of staying in prison for as long as possible. But the relatives of those killed by Pickton believe that karma overtook the maniac, and are rather grateful to the one who cut his life short.
