Three and a half years have passed since a dog bit Jordan Wilson in the face. The woman underwent 16 surgeries to restore her nose and restore her breathing. Now, the Pennsylvania resident has finally returned to normal life.

A relative's Boerboel bit off Wilson's nose and swallowed it. The 29-year-old mother of two shared how the horrific incident changed her life.

"I'm not sure I'll ever be completely myself again, but friends and family notice I'm getting back to my old self." "Now I look at life and beauty differently. I've realized that some things are more important than the little things on the outside," says Jordan.

In April 2022, Jordan visited her husband's brother and his companion. There, she was attacked by a Boerboel, which had previously shown no aggression. Now, the brother-in-law is paying for numerous surgeries, but he chose not to euthanize the pet.

The victim shares: "I have mixed feelings about the dog being alive. I don't think one bite is enough to euthanize an animal. But I have a feeling this isn't the first time, even though there was no obvious aggression."

"I think it was a game, because otherwise he could have killed me. If he had continued biting, I would have been dead. He grabbed my nose and, since this breed of dog is large and strong, he caused serious injuries. He completely tore my nose off and, as I was told, probably swallowed it."

"My right cheek was badly damaged. There was a lot of blood. I didn't look in the mirror until the second surgery. Then they did a skin graft and installed the first tissue expander."

She then underwent forehead flap surgery. This technique involves removing a section of skin from the forehead to cover the nose.

She said: "When I touched my nose, it felt like I was touching my forehead. Now I clearly feel like it's my nose. It's amazing how our bodies adapt and how the nerves recover."

The American woman underwent several surgeries to make her new nose thinner.

"I'm feeling pretty good now. My forehead still hurts a little after the expander was removed—I had to stretch the skin a lot. My head feels strange, like a numb leg: a mixture of numbness and pain."

"I have three more surgeries ahead of me, mostly for nose jobs. I want to achieve a perfect result."

Jordan admitted: "I still love animals, but I approach them with more caution now. When my children are around dogs, I feel even more protective of them than I am of myself. This is not only because of my personal experience, but also because of the stories of others who have experienced similar injuries."

"Sometimes I wonder, 'Why did this happen?' I try to find meaning and turn difficulties into positive moments. My goal is to help others going through similar trials. I share my experiences and story online to offer support and comfort to those in need."
