Doctors in the Moscow region saved a summer resident who landed unsuccessfully on an iron bar (4 photos)
An extremely painful and unpleasant injury. But the man, so to speak, was very lucky that the reinforcement did not hit the vessels and organs.
Doctors at the Lukhovitsky hospital saved a man who had fallen awkwardly on building materials and pierced his armpit with a one-and-a-half-meter iron rod. The reinforcement miraculously did not hit the vital organs and vessels. The man was operated on under anesthesia and the foreign body was removed.
As the 57-year-old patient said, he was working at his dacha when he tripped and fell on a bucket containing steel rods. One of them pierced his armpit. The man lost consciousness from pain shock. Fortunately, his relatives were nearby and immediately took him to the hospital.
As the doctors said, the reinforcement rods passed through the armpit between the first rib and the collarbone to the back of the neck. A few more centimeters and the dacha resident could have died. But he was very lucky - neither his organs, nor his blood vessels, nor his lymphatic system were damaged. This significantly simplified the surgeons' work and reduced the risk of complications.
Doctors removed the reinforcement from the patient's body and installed drainage to prevent the spread of infection. The summer resident has already been discharged from the hospital and will soon be able to do his chores again, but he is unlikely to ever store iron rods in a bucket again.
The rod is 60 centimeters long and 10 millimeters in diameter
