A family from Flintshire (Wales, UK) was left without lunch after finding a live snake in a bag of potatoes purchased from a supermarket.
In footage taken by family members, the reptile can be seen crawling inside the package.
Shoppers said they ordered the item from a grocery store while on holiday in Cornwall, paying £360 for the whole thing. When they were preparing food and saw a “surprise” in a transparent bag, they were scared and afraid of being bitten.
"We took a bag of potatoes out of the cupboard to prepare dinner. One of the family members initially mistook the snake for a thick potato sprout, but it suddenly began to move. At first it was obvious that the creature inside was quite large, but only after looking more closely did we realize that it was looks like a snake. Imagine our screams,” the British remember that incident.
Representatives from Sainsbury's apologized to the family and said this was an "isolated" incident.
“We have contacted the buyer to apologize for this unfortunate incident and offer solutions to the problem. We are trying to prevent such incidents through special procedures, and will investigate together with our supplier,” the official statement said.
