In California, 35-year-old teacher Jacqueline Ma pleaded guilty to molesting two underage students, ages 11 and 12.
The woman, previously named one of the top five teachers in San Diego County, was arrested in 2023 after the father of one of the victims contacted police. She faces up to 30 years in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced on May 9.
According to the case materials, Ma entered into forbidden relationships with two boys, gave them gifts, exchanged intimate photos and inappropriate messages. In correspondence with a 12-year-old teenager, she described sexual acts with him, confessed her love and expressed jealousy because of the boy's possible relationship with a peer, Fox News reports.
The first victim said that the teacher touched him inappropriately when they were alone in the classroom. The second boy said that Ma took off her shirt in front of him and showed off her sports bra.
Initially, Ma denied all charges, but later agreed to a plea bargain. Her case has caused a stir, given the professional status of the accused and the gravity of the crime. Now the former teacher will face a court that will determine her punishment within the framework of the concluded agreement.
