The mayor of an American city proposed to clear it of homeless people by giving them illegal substances for free (6 photos + 1 video)

According to the mayor, the problem with homeless people needs to be solved radically.

Mayor of the Californian city of Lancaster R. Rex Parris.

R. Rex Parris

He was at a city council meeting and listened to a woman urging officials to allocate more money to help those who were left homeless. She also criticized the city's decision to use an empty golf course as a shelter for the homeless. According to officials, this is a smart move: to gather everyone in one place so that it is easier to control them, rather than to catch them on the streets. But the woman did not like this move; she said that it is a restriction of freedom and does not look like a democracy.

At some point, Parris got tired of talking and said that the problem of homeless people can be solved very simply - by giving them drugs for free in unlimited quantities. And the problem with homeless people will soon disappear - along with the homeless people themselves.

I want to give them free fentanyl. I mean, that's what I want to do. I want to give them as much fentanyl as they want.

By the way, Parris' speech was back in February, but it only appeared online now. This is associated with the fact that the mayor is a Republican, and now they have again started fighting the Democratic Party and they are using various pretexts to cause a scandal and highlight it in the media as much as possible.

Now Parris has said he stands by his words. The mayor emphasized that he was not talking about all homeless people, but only about criminals:

I made it very clear that I was talking about criminals released from prison, who now make up 40-45% of the so-called homeless population.

They are responsible for most of our robberies, most of our rapes, and at least half of our murders. There is nothing we can do for these people.

He added that fentanyl is "so easy" to get on the streets that no one would be surprised if it was given away for free. The mayor said that otherwise the city will never get rid of the homeless people who have become a nuisance to ordinary citizens. Therefore, he suggested that Donald Trump "clean up" Lancaster.

Is this cruel now? Of course it is. But it is my responsibility as the mayor of Lancaster to protect the hardworking families who live there, and I can no longer do that... This is an untenable situation, and I am open to any solution... I want these people out of our city.

Parris became mayor in 2008 and was re-elected several times. His term expires in 2028, but the official may not serve out the term. His opponent in the last mayoral election, by the way, a Democrat, said that because of such statements, the mayor should leave his post. And he launched a petition for Parris' early resignation. She needs to get at least 20,000 votes, and currently there are only 1,200. Lancaster residents probably don't disagree with the mayor's opinion that much.
