The cunning rodents have completely terrorized the unfortunate police officers. 
No, they don't attack police stations or terrorize prisoners in their cells. They are more cunning and smart. Oh! The rats' cunning knows no bounds, even the Rat King from "The Nutcracker" would be impressed by the ingenuity of his own subjects. They secretly get into warehouses and eat drugs confiscated from criminals, can you imagine? Yes, these are the kind of drug-addicted rats. There is no escape from them.
That's what the local police chief told his superiors when he was asked where 180 kg of marijuana disappeared from the evidence room. I'm serious! That's the official version of where the drugs went. 
In addition to cannabis, rats don't shy away from cocaine, mushrooms, in short, anything their little paws can get their hands on. The problem first arose in October, and even professional exterminators couldn't wean the drug-addicted rats off drugs.
Houston Mayor John Whitmyer simply stated at a press conference: "We have 400,000 pounds of marijuana in a warehouse that only rats could enjoy." 
The problem is that local regulations require that seized drugs be stored even after an investigation is over. So, in Houston, there are 1.2 million pieces of evidence stored in an evidence room downtown and a second warehouse. This includes drugs confiscated over the years. 
They are now going to review the method of storing material evidence. They are planning to get rid of old drugs that were discovered before 2015 and are no longer needed for the investigation of the case. They will probably give it to the rats, otherwise the goods will go to waste.
