In short, the tragedy happened to the mayor of Minot (one of the largest cities in North Dakota) Tom Ross in January, and last Tuesday he was forced to resign. But first things first.
The mayor had a phone conversation with prosecutor Stephanie Stalheim about a cop who committed suicide.

The mayor tearfully asked not to watch the video, just delete it and be done with it, but there was no stopping Stephanie. The video was sent to the competent authorities for review, they watched it, assessed it and agreed with the prosecutor that yes, it was time for the mayor to retire.
Investigators found that the mayor's behavior "directly resulted in Stalheim's inability to work in an environment free of unjustified sexual harassment and created an offensive work environment."
After that, the mayor had to resign.
