Americans regretted not paying the cab driver in Ireland (3 photos + 1 video)

Americans took a ride in a horse-drawn carriage in Dublin and didn't pay the fare. The tourists tried to escape, but the frustrated driver caught up with them and whipped them.

The footage shows a man pointing a whip at the fugitives hiding in the corner of an alley.

The caption to the video read: "Dublin... Two tourists from the US on St. Patrick's Day tried to trick a cab driver. They won't dare again."

"Pay now, into my bank account!" the cabbie shouts, waving his whip threateningly.

"I have money. $100, even more than we owe," the tourist says.

The Irishman continues to swear.

The offenders apologize: "Sorry, we've learned our lesson, thank you!"

It is not known whether the cabbie received the money.

Thousands of social media users appreciated the spectacle.

"He did the right thing!" wrote a viewer.

And another added: "Brilliant, they deserved it. The man had the right to let it go."

"I'm an American and I approve of this," commented a third.

However, not everyone supported the Irishman, noting that horse riding in Dublin can be quite expensive, and sometimes the final price differs from the original: "They were probably deceived and overcharged"; "These cabbies are scammers. They tell you €50, and at the end of the ride it's €50 each"; "Glad they ran away, I don't sympathize with the man. His poor horses."

On Monday, thousands of people took to the streets of Dublin to become part of the national parade dedicated to St. Patrick's Day. Guests from all over the world filled the city centre, many dressed as leprechauns and wearing the tricolour.

St Patrick's Day, the patron saint of Ireland, is celebrated annually in different countries around the world on March 17. The parade in Dublin began at midday and attracted more than half a million spectators.

The procession was held under the motto "Eachtrai", which means "adventure", reflecting the Irish spirit of adventure.

More than 4,000 people took part in the spectacular event. Among them were international orchestras, artists, dancers, and giant figures. The route ran from Parnell Square to the intersection of Kevin Street, including such landmarks as O'Connell Street and Trinity College.
