He was detained, but he did not admit guilt. 
In early December, a 58-year-old resident of St. Petersburg went on vacation to Thailand alone. He stayed on the island of Phuket and went for a swim on December 17.
This swim was the man's last. 
He never came out of the water and after some time the tourist was declared drowned and they started looking for him - the man disappeared during the day and the body was only fished out after midnight. 
At first they assumed that the deceased had a heart attack or something like that, and then they looked at the footage from the surveillance cameras.
They show that the tourist was killed by another vacationer. He was riding a rented jet ski, got really fast and drove over an unsuspecting man.
The killer turned out to be a 25-year-old Australian. After the incident, he fled to a neighboring province and thought to hide from justice there. He was detained a day after the reckless drive and charged with negligence in driving a vehicle resulting in the death of a person.
But the young man was stubborn and did not admit guilt. Investigators are currently working with him.
