A rat fell from the ceiling into a cafe customer's plate (2 photos + 1 video)
A Singapore resident was shocked by an incident at a cafe in a shopping mall. A rat fell from the ceiling directly into her plate.
The incident occurred at the Lucky Plaza shopping mall on the afternoon of February 18. A video taken by an eyewitness captured the moment the rat escaped from the plate and then ran to the edge of the table. A man and woman sitting at the table jumped up and began gathering their things. A cafe employee soon approached, picked up the rat with a napkin, and carried it away. The woman, deprived of food, said the rat fell from the ceiling, where numerous pipes and air ducts run.
Mothership, Singapore's food safety agency, responded that they are investigating the incident. According to the affected customer, the cafe owner offered to replace the spoiled food but did not apologize. Following the incident, the food court management conducted a major cleaning of the premises. The government-initiated investigation is ongoing.
In the comments to the video, many noted how the cafe employee deftly and casually caught the rat with a napkin. Some speculated that the mall employees are accustomed to rats, indicating that sanitary conditions there leave much to be desired.
