In the UK, a teenager decided to commit murder because he didn't want to go to school on Monday. He told police he spent Sunday evening at home watching TV, then armed himself with an axe and attacked his sleeping parents.

A 15-year-old Sussex resident attacked his sleeping father with an axe. He then attacked his mother, who woke up from the noise and tried to protect her husband. Both suffered serious injuries: the man suffered multiple skull fractures, and the mother's ear was partially severed.

The teenager admitted attempting to murder his parents and was remanded in custody at Lewes Crown Court.

He explained that he took a large axe, thinking it was a good weapon because one blow would be enough. The boy didn't want to go to school and decided to kill himself and his parents.

Prosecutor Ryan Richter read an excerpt from the student's diary: "I have to kill my parents tonight. There's no other way. I'll never get better, nothing will change, and I have no choice."

Richter addressed the court: "After midnight, the defendant went to the garage to get a large axe. He then raised it over his father's head and struck him. It was dark, and he couldn't tell exactly where he hit. But he kept hitting. The man screamed in pain, and the son headed for his mother's room, unsure whether he had killed his father. When he entered his parents' room, his mother was standing. He walked up to her and struck her with the axe, knocking her down. He can't remember whether he dropped the axe or whether his mother knocked it out of her hands."

The victims were taken to West Sussex Hospital.

The father had six axe wounds to his face and head. A CT scan revealed five skull fractures. He had a brain hemorrhage. He also suffered a broken finger and a deep laceration to his right wrist. The mother's left ear was partially severed, and there was a deep cut on her left cheek. She also suffered severe lacerations to her right shoulder and right thigh.

The court heard about the teenager's bullying at school.

According to Richter, the boy wanted to kill his parents so they wouldn't suffer because of his suicide.

The couple attended the hearing, while their son watched remotely.

Judge Justine Thornton noted that the family expresses love and support for the child, who has been diagnosed with autism and major depressive disorder. He will be kept in a specialized facility for his own benefit and the safety of the public.

Thornton addressed him: "Your parents continue to love and support you. They tell you that you are kind, caring, and intelligent. You've experienced serious trauma that has led to a nervous breakdown. I believe you have a mental disorder. You need to stay in the hospital and continue treatment."
