A girl removed her nose and got a tattoo on her eyes to become a human zombie cat (6 photos)
Aydin Mod has had countless surgeries, including a nose and turbinate removal, forehead implants, multiple tattoos, "scarifications" and eye tattoos.
The 23-year-old Italian has been obsessed with changing her appearance since she started piercing her face with a needle in the bathroom at the age of 11 and then cutting her tongue in two four years later.
She is now getting closer to her desired – and very unique – dream look.
"For me, body modifications are natural and amputations are a necessity," the model and circus performer said. "There's nothing that I consider too important or beyond my ability to treat. My body does whatever I want it to do. I own it, so if my mind decides something, my body just finds a way to do it."
While she says her "extreme" body modification was getting her eyeballs tattooed, Aydin has recently undergone a more drastic change, having her nose removed and her face "scarified."
To accentuate her feline appearance, she has tiger stripes covering her chest, neck, and cheeks. The remaining nose is flatter and has inverted nostrils.
Maude's older modifications include a vaginal lip piercing, a large piercing above her lip that allows her to push her forked tongue through, and countless piercings and tattoos over the past 12 years.
Aydin describes herself as "anti-natural beauty" and "the queen of body horror."
She joked, "I decided that the zombie stray cat look suited me better because I feel a little dead inside. In my opinion, whether you cut your hair or get a manicure, dye your hair or shave it, it's still body modification. It's not permanent, but you're changing the natural state of your body in a certain way."
Aydin has had so much work done that she can't put a figure on the total cost or the amount of modifications she's had.
Her look has proven popular, if not controversial, on social media, where it's racked up millions of views.
Her most viral video has 67 million views, showing Aydin pushing her forked tongue through the holes she made above her lips, showing off two surgical modifications in one go. But she doesn't let any of the comments - positive or negative - affect her.
Earlier, Aydin spoke about this in an interview with Jam Press: "Honestly, I rarely pay attention to comments, both positive and negative, I think they are just inappropriate thoughts dictated by ignorance and personal tastes. The only person I have to please is myself. For example, they call me "ugly", but I don't even consider it an insult, to be honest. I am a normal person, I live my life, and if someone is not happy with this, let them stay away from me. Luckily, I have to say that I have a lot of support and I am surrounded by wonderful people, I have no problem interacting with people in public just because of my appearance, and I usually get along better with people who lead a different life than me, which is amazing."
Aydin believes that "nothing lasts forever, because we're all going to die" - perhaps this helps her make more extreme decisions when it comes to changing her body. She added: "My only hope is that I can evolve in the way I like until my last day on Earth."
