Vacationers in Mexico were electrocuted in a jacuzzi (6 photos + 1 video)
A US tourist has died while relaxing in a hot tub at a private resort in Mexico. His wife was seriously injured and is in critical condition. According to the preliminary version, a faulty electrical wiring is to blame.
Authorities in Sonora state said Jorge Guillen, 43, and Lisetta Zambrano, 35, of El Paso, Texas, were in a hot tub at the Sonoran Sea Resort on Tuesday.
The police are trying to find out the exact details of what happened. Most likely there has been a power surge.
One of the passers-by noticed that the couple was unconscious. When she tried to get into the water, she was electrocuted.
In video from the scene, people are crowded around the hot tub and screams and crying can be heard. A body is floating in the water, another person is lying outside the bathtub and is being given artificial respiration.
The couple had dual citizenship - Mexican and American
Lisette is an elementary school teacher in El Paso. Friends have set up a GoFundMe fundraiser to help the woman pay medical expenses and return Jorge's body to the United States.
"Our best friends survived a terrible accident. Jorge had a heart of gold and always helped family and friends. Their love was everlasting. We are asking for your help to bring him home and help with medical expenses," the appeal reads.
