In Yala Province, Thailand, 63-year-old Chaiphum Sae-ung was attacked by a pig-tailed macaque. The frenzied animal entered his home and bit off a piece of his left leg. The man was attempting to defend himself from the aggressive primate, which was terrorizing the neighborhood.
The man's body was found with multiple bite marks. His nephew, Pipat Sae-ung, reported finding his uncle lying on the floor in a pool of blood on December 6.
Police arriving at the scene discovered the body of a 63-year-old man. He lay lifeless, clutching a metal rod. This object was likely used in a desperate attempt to defend himself.
There was blood and macaque paw prints on the floor.
The killer did not flee the scene; he sat in the rafters and glared at the police.
Major Jakkarin Laksana of the Betong Police Station stated, "We believe he died about two to three days ago, as the body was severely swollen and emanated a foul odor. An autopsy will be performed at Betong Hospital. We are not considering human involvement in his death."
Village residents reported that the aggressive primate had been stalking a female. Ten days earlier, it had bitten Chaipum on the shoulder and later attacked the family, forcing them to leave their home.
Authorities have declared a hunt for the bloodthirsty primate.
Police Major Jakkarin stated: "The monkey will be killed at first sight. The risk of it attacking people is too great."
Thailand is struggling with a growing macaque population, which is becoming increasingly aggressive. They often enter cities and attack residents. ![]()
