The owners of a lion who attacked a woman with children were arrested in Pakistan (3 photos + 1 video)
A lion escaped from a farm and attacked a woman and her two children in Lahore, an eastern Pakistani city. The owners stood by and watched as their pet inflicted injuries.
The video shows a lion jumping over a wall and then attacking victims in a residential area. The woman and her two children notice the danger, but moments later the beast jumps on her back and knocks her to the ground. A passerby rushes to her aid, trying to scare the predator away.
According to police spokesman Faisal Kamran, the woman and her children, aged five and seven, suffered injuries to their faces and arms. Three of the victims were rushed to hospital and are in stable condition.
The lion's owners saw the incident but made no effort to restrain their pet. In fact, they were amused by the incident.
The police arrested the breeders and sent the 11-month-old predator to a wildlife park.
Some wealthy Pakistanis keep exotic animals, such as lions. This is considered a sign of high status.
In December 2024, an adult lion escaped from an enclosure in another area of Lahore. It terrorized residents until it was shot by a security guard.
The incident prompted the authorities to pass new laws regulating the sale, purchase, breeding and ownership of big cats. Now breeders are required to obtain licenses to keep animals and pay a significant fee, in addition, the area of the plot must be at least 10 acres.
