A girl showed what happened when she tried to conquer the summit of Everest
A 17-year-old girl shared a shocking video on TikTok, filmed at Everest Base Camp, showing the horrors of attempting to climb the world's highest mountain—8,849 meters above sea level.
The young climber admitted that her expedition ended just 400 meters from the summit, when frostbite and a lack of oxygen forced her to turn back.
"I feel terrible. My neck, my throat, my lungs," she said, barely breathing. Her face was wind-whipped, her lips were chapped, and her voice was a whisper.
According to Bianca, she and her father started the climb together, but he dropped out due to snow blindness. Both were later diagnosed with high-altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE) and severe dehydration.
"I still feel very sick and exhausted, I need time to recover," the girl told her followers.
Many commenters admitted they were amazed by her determination, but reminded her of the deadly danger of the "Death Zone"—an area above 8,000 meters, where oxygen levels are so low that the human body literally begins to die.
Dr. Harley Greenberg of Northwell Health noted that hypoxia can lead to serious organ dysfunction and even death.
"High-altitude pulmonary edema is the leading cause of mountaineering death. It develops several days after reaching high altitude and can be fatal," the expert emphasized.
Despite the setback, Bianca's video went viral. Millions of users admire her courage and the fact that she stopped in time, saving her life.
