In Taiwan, a teacher was sentenced to 17 years in prison for molesting a 12-year-old student.
According to documents from the Taoyuan City Court, the middle school teacher approached the student and had sex with him nine times between February and June 2020. As a result, the woman became pregnant and gave birth to a child.
When the investigation began, she claimed that the sixth-grader himself "took the initiative" and wanted to have an intimate relationship with her. The investigation refuted this version. As a result, the teacher was sentenced to 17 years and six months in prison.
The woman filed an appeal. The first hearing was held on April 22 behind closed doors and lasted half an hour. After it, the former teacher and her lawyer refused to talk to the press. It is known that the woman was previously deprived of the right to teach for life.
