On Saturday afternoon, an unpleasant situation occurred during the Northern Premier League match between Avro and Kidsgrove Athletic. Tensions flared in the final minutes, with players and fans clashing near the benches. At the height of the conflict, the visiting team's goalkeeper punched one of the opposing fans.
The game was abandoned in the 84th minute. At that point, Avro was leading 6-0, and two Kidsgrove players had received red cards.
The referee blows the whistle to stop the game. Meanwhile, club officials and staff rush to separate the players to avoid conflict in the spectator area. But it's too late.
Aurora condemned the behavior of those responsible and confirmed that the investigation is ongoing: "As a club, we are extremely outraged by the behavior of some fans, players, and representatives of Kidsgrove Athletic. We are ready to cooperate with the Premier League and the Football Association in their investigation of the incident, which occurred in the 84th minute of today's match. We await the reports of the referee and the Football Association."
Kidsgrove Athletic responded: "We have read Avro's statement. We do not condone any form of violence. Our principles are respect and sportsmanship, both on and off the pitch. Kidsgrove Athletic will provide a full report to the Northern Premier League and the English Football Association. We will await the outcome before making any further comment."
The incident occurred after one of the Kidsgrove coaches was sent off. This sparked a dispute near the technical area. Spectators then intervened.
