Boy broke his fingers on the escalator in the subway
In St. Petersburg, a 4-year-old boy was injured when he stepped off an escalator. The child decided to go for a run while his dad was distracted. The boy tripped and his hand got caught in the lifting mechanism.
The father tried to pull his son's hand out, but the escalator managed to crush several of the child's fingers. The boy was taken to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with open fractures of the middle finger and little finger on his left hand.
He needed a three-hour operation so that doctors could put the bones back together and stitch the tendons.
