In the USA, a killer shot the head of one of the largest insurance companies (4 photos + 1 video)
The killer has not yet been caught.
Yesterday morning, a high-profile murder occurred: Brian Thompson, director of one of the largest insurance companies in America, UnitedHealthcare, was liquidated in New York.
Brian Thompson
Thompson arrived at the annual meeting of shareholders of his company and checked into the New York Hilton Midtown hotel in downtown Manhattan. At 6:45 he left the hotel and headed to the meeting place of shareholders - that's where he was shot.
The killer hung around the hotel for a while, and when he saw Thompson, he took out a pistol with a silencer and fired several shots. The killer turned out to be an amateur and did not check the weapon properly - it jammed after each shot and the killer pulled the bolt.
The 50-year-old director was rushed to the hospital, but they could not save him. The event where he was supposed to speak was canceled:
I'm afraid that we - some of you may know that we are dealing with a very serious medical situation with one of our team members. And as a result, I'm afraid we will have to end the event today, which I'm sure you will understand, - the conference host told its participants.
At the time, he did not yet know that Thompson died in the hospital.
And the killer left the crime scene on a bicycle - they have been looking for him for two days now, but so far without success. There is only a video recording of dubious quality and the testimony of several witnesses. According to them, he is a white man in a black mask and with a hood on his head. The description is excellent, now of course they should immediately find and detain him. But seriously, it turned out that in New York there is no (or for some reason it did not work) a normal street video surveillance system, so the criminal was able to calmly ride away on a bicycle. Where he went - no one knows.
There are a couple more details. The bullet casings found at the crime scene were engraved with the words "deny," "overthrow," and "defend." And the victim's wife says that shortly before his trip to the conference, Thompson received anonymous threats, but ignored them. There is no other information, or it is not being disclosed.
The story has made quite a stir, and the killer is being actively sought. He sent to the next world not an ordinary junkie from Harlem, but the head of a company ranked 4th in the Fortune 500. The company employs more than 100 thousand people.
