A Ugandan healer living in a suburb of the capital Kampala was found with 24 human skulls. Police do not rule out that he was engaged in human sacrifice.
The man has been detained and Ugandan police say the suspect, Damulira Godfrey, will be charged under Uganda's Prevention and Prohibition of Human Sacrifice Act and faces life imprisonment.
The healer's home and yard were also found to contain animal bones and skins, including monkeys, and other belongings. Police are continuing to search the area in hopes of finding more human remains.
The suspect, Damulira Godfrey, calls himself a traditional healer and herbalist. However, the Ugandan Traditional Healers Association does not recognize him.
In Uganda, a country of 50 million, about 84% of residents consider themselves Christians, and the rest are Muslims.
However, there is a certain part of the population that believes in local beliefs and practices, in particular, even such as human sacrifice.
"Human sacrifice is considered the most powerful means and is used when other rituals have not helped, for example, to beg wealth from the gods or to bring an agreement on an enemy. Children often become victims; in some cases, the victim is mutilated, cutting off the body parts in which they kill," the publication writes. .
Not long ago, in Uganda, the police found a sacrifice site with 17 human skulls. It turned out to be only 40 kilometers from the capital.
