A Turkish taxi driver neutralized a man with a shotgun
In Turkey, a man armed with a shotgun hijacked a taxi and fired at police officers.
In the southeastern Turkish city of Araban, a taxi driver named Ramazan Yildirim overpowered a man armed with a shotgun who was firing at police officers from his car.
The driver accepted the order and found the man with the gun and a woman shielding him.
The taxi driver reported that he was about to leave, but the armed passenger pointed a gun at him and got into the backseat. The attacker then ordered the driver to flee, and a few kilometers later, spotting a police car, he fired at it. Ten to fifteen kilometers later, he fired at a police car again at another checkpoint.
Taking advantage of the opportune moment when the gunman pointed a weapon out the car window, the driver managed to snatch a shotgun. The attacker attempted to resist, but compassionate passersby came to Yıldırım's aid. Police officers arrived at the scene and detained the armed man.
The taxi driver noted that he was pleased that no one was injured in the incident.
