An armed robbery in Colombia didn't go according to plan

On Saturday, October 4, in central Bogotá, Colombia, two armed robbers attacked a shopper leaving a store. Unfortunately for the robbers, the victim was a police officer.
The robbers attacked the shopper as he left the store after he had the misfortune of showing the contents of his wallet at the checkout. They took the wallet, but didn't have time to run away.
The victim was a police officer. He was off duty that day, but that didn't stop him from using his service weapon: one robber was killed and the other was seriously wounded. The officer also received a bullet to the collarbone, but his life is not in danger.
Investigators interpreted the police officer's actions as appropriate self-defense.
