A player was disqualified for 5 years for repeatedly kicking an opponent in the head
Esport Feminino and AS Resenhas faced off in a women's futsal tournament in Fortaleza. In the second half, with Esport Feminino leading 1-0, an incident occurred. During a fight for the ball, Lara was whistled for a foul on Yulia. For unknown reasons, she became enraged, approached Yulia, who was still lying on the ground, and kicked her hard in the head.
Lara kicked Yulia twice in the head. The entire incident was captured on television: Lara committed the foul from behind. Yulia fell facedown on the ground, and Lara quickly rose to kick her opponent in the head.
The incident didn't end there. Following Lara's unsportsmanlike behavior, a brawl ensued. A teammate of the victim tried to defend her and confronted Lara, but was punched. At that moment, the referee ran onto the court to intervene and calm the heated tension.
Julia was able to get up after being kicked several times in the head. However, following medical advice, she was taken to the emergency room of Eusebio Hospital. Her club stated in a statement that Julia has been discharged from the hospital and is currently feeling well.
Tournament organizers immediately took harsh measures against Lara and the AS Resenhas team. The entire team was disqualified from the tournament. The city's sports department also banned Lara from playing football for five years and from participating in any city-sponsored sporting events. Several of her teammates involved in the altercation received penalties of varying severity.
