Polish border guards were attacked in Tbilisi: there are casualties and detainees
A group of Polish border guards enjoyed Georgian hospitality, after which two of them were hospitalized with traumatic brain injuries.
The conflict occurred on the evening of October 8th in central Tbilisi. That day, the border guards had brought 10 Georgian citizens, who had been deported from Poland by court order, to Georgia. That evening, they went out to dinner at a restaurant. There, they got into an argument with a group of locals (circled) and went outside to talk, where, according to the republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs, "an attack with metal bars and a knife occurred."
Three Polish Border Guard officers (under the arrows) were injured, one of whom required surgery. They will be returning home tomorrow under medical supervision.
Three suspects have been detained, two of whom have previous convictions for causing grievous bodily harm.
