Warsaw woman poisoned colleague with chemicals for several months
The victim suffered serious health problems.
The case concerns cleaners who serviced offices in Warsaw. The 51-year-old woman contacted the police and said that she noticed a suspicious deterioration in her health after drinking at work. At first, she thought it was a consequence of stress or overexertion, but did not think that someone was poisoning her. However, her suspicions grew, so she decided to install a hidden camera in the workroom. What she saw on the video stunned her. She saw a colleague pouring a poisonous substance into a cup and then carefully wiping the spoon so as not to leave a trace.
After viewing the footage, the woman reported it to the police. After an examination at the hospital, it was established that the victim suffered internal injuries caused by toxic substances.
The police detained the perpetrator on the same day. She was charged with attempted grievous bodily harm and sentenced to three months in custody. She faces up to 20 years in prison.
Investigators are checking whether any other employees or persons outside the cleaning company have been held accountable for the attempted grievous bodily harm to the 51-year-old woman. According to the publication, this could have been a broader conspiracy. The perpetrators allegedly wanted to fire the woman from her job.
In particular, it was established that another woman, a 68-year-old colleague of the suspect, knew about the crime. She knew about the poisoning attempts, but did not report it to law enforcement agencies. She faces up to three years in prison. She was placed under police surveillance and prohibited from contacting the victim and the suspect.
