A tiger shark bit a diver on the head
A terrifying incident recently took place in the Maldives. A tourist was diving on the island of Hulhumale, in the south of the North Male Atoll, when a shark "snuck up" on him and suddenly grabbed his head. It was clearly trying to swallow the diver and was shaking him violently, but something disrupted its plans, and the predator swam away just as suddenly as it had attacked.
The diver was wearing a neoprene hood in the shape of a clownfish, which is believed to have provoked the attack. The victim survived, but he needed more than 40 stitches.
The tourists were diving in the Shark Tank, where seiner crews often gut their catch before returning to shore. There are always a lot of sharks and rays here, which pose a danger to inexperienced divers.
