In India, a massive structure collapsed during a procession
The structure, moved by animals and machinery, tilted and collapsed. The incident was caught on video.
The structure fell near the village of Hilalige. According to reports, the incident took place when dozens of animals and pieces of equipment were being transported by a chariot to Huskur, where the annual Madduram fair was being held.
Located near the city of Bangalore, the Sri Madduramma Temple boasts of an ancient history attributed to the Chola dynasty (an ancient state in India that arose in the 3rd century BC). The Madduramma Fair, which dates back centuries, is held annually in April or May. Residents of more than 10 surrounding villages travel to the Sri Madduramma temple in Huskur, bringing cereal plants with them. Traditionally, rural communities built tall chariots (theru) to pay their respects to Madduramma.
However, this year, disaster struck: the massive structure, about forty meters high, tilted and eventually collapsed. Despite the size of the structure and the large number of people, casualties were avoided.
