An angry airline passenger threw dirty pads at check-in staff after being denied boarding.
Gloria Omisore flew from her hometown of Lagos, Nigeria, to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Kenya, for a long-haul trip to Manchester, England, on February 3.
However, during check-in, Omisore was informed by airline staff that she did not have the required visa to enter France as she had booked a stopover in Paris before continuing on to the UK.
She was offered an alternative route via London, but Omisore allegedly went into a "check-in rage", shouting at the agents at the counter who tried to remain calm during her tirade.
The furious passenger was eventually denied boarding and deported back to Kenya, losing the cost of her tickets to France and Manchester, as well as her hotel booking.
After a heated argument, the passenger, who was on her period, threw a bloody menstrual pad, which fell on the counter and then on the floor.
Omisore then shouted, "You have to give me a sanitary towel. You can't take my phone. I will talk to the finance minister of Nigeria, you'll see."
However, the agent shouted back, "Call the president of Nigeria. You will not fly Kenya Airways. You will never fly our airline again. Call your president. We will not give you anything. You will never fly our airline again."
Omisore stood her ground and demanded a sanitary towel again, furious that the journey would be added 17 hours if she accepted the airline's offer to fly her to London.
Kenya Airways defended its position and said it had offered Omisore a "generous alternative" because she did not have a visa.
Following the incident, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority spokesman Michael Achimugu met with Kenya Airways and agreed to deport Gloria back to Nigeria on February 3.
