They believe that the art object is obscenely reminiscent of phalluses, so it should be demolished, and at the same time the sculptor should be held accountable for “pornography.”
Orthodox activists from the "Forty Sorokov" movement appealed to the prosecutor's office with a demand to check the creator of mushroom sculptures on an ecological trail in Komi for the illegal production and trafficking of pornographic materials.
According to social activists, the art objects created by local carpenter-sculptor Vasily Adamchuk look more like male genital organs rather than mushrooms.
The work of the sculptor Adamchuk is popular in Komi. Various government institutions order art objects from him: from sports schools to administration
The fighters for moral purity explained their position by the fact that there are many children walking along the ecological trail who should not see anything like this.
Russian sculptor Viktor Kropachev, in turn, stood up for his colleague. He said that he sees nothing indecent in the mushroom sculptures.
“I see only mushrooms in these photographs and I don’t understand how these people could see anything else here. Mushrooms are natural creations, and there is nothing wrong with them,” Kropachev said.
Art objects are located on the Paraskin Lakes in Ukhta
