Failed prison escape attempt
A 20-year-old man attacked police officers and nearly escaped from a courthouse in the US state of Ohio. The escape attempt was caught on video.
20-year-old Timothy Riggle was convicted of robbery and sentenced to prison at the courthouse. Once in the hallway, the young man somehow managed to slip out of his handcuffs, struck his escort, and bolted toward the exit. On his way to freedom, the prisoner shoved past several more law enforcement officers, but was ultimately subdued with a taser and apprehended by sheriff's deputies right at the doors.
As a result, two police officers were hospitalized with injuries, and following the failed escape, Riggle now faces a new trial and an increased sentence for attempted escape and assault on officers.
