Infant and father pulled alive from rubble in Colombia
Following an earthquake in Colombia, rescuers found an infant and his father alive. The victims had spent several hours under the rubble of a collapsed building.
Another miraculous rescue after the earthquake: a father shielded an infant with his body under the ruins of a house in the city of Cali. Two-month-old Salomon survived thanks to his father, Juan David, who held him in his arms for several hours, shielding him from the debris with his back.
The man asked only one thing of the rescuers who heard the child crying from beneath the walls and began clearing the rubble above them: not to let his son die. One of the police officers involved in the rescue recounted this to local media.
The father and child survived, while the boy's mother is currently listed as missing.
