In New York, a driver rammed a synagogue several times
New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani stated that the arrested man "intentionally and repeatedly crashed his car into the building." Mamdani, who claimed to have visited the scene after the incident, called the act "horrific" and "deeply disturbing" in a social media post.
New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch reported that the driver of the car was arrested, and the bomb squad found no explosive devices in the vehicle.
"This evening, a car crashed into the side entrance of the Chabad Lubavitch headquarters at 770 Eastern Parkway. This building houses one of the most important synagogues in the world," Chabad Lubavitch spokesman Moti Seligson posted on social media, adding that the driver was arrested "almost immediately."
The driver was detained. He claimed his car "slid" toward the synagogue doors.
