A well-known Chinese aviation blogger, Tang Feizi, died during his livestream after his ultralight helicopter crashed.
Feizi was broadcasting live from Jiangge County in central China when his aircraft suddenly crashed and burst into flames. The incident occurred on September 27, 2025.
Footage from the scene, released by the state-run China News Service (CNS), shows 55-year-old Feizi ascending onto the helicopter before it plummets and bursts into flames. Viewers watching the livestream began to express concern for the blogger's well-being. Media outlets soon declared Feizi dead.
It was determined that Feizi was not wearing a helmet or rescue equipment such as a parachute at the time of the incident.
The Chinese news portal Cover News, citing local authorities, reported that the crash did not cause any damage to the surrounding area.
Tang Feizi had approximately 100,000 subscribers on the Chinese platform Douyin. According to CNS, he purchased the crashed aircraft for 350,000 yuan. The aircraft weighed just over 113 kg and had one seat. Feizi claimed his machine could fly to an altitude of almost 600 meters and reach speeds of approximately 100 km/h.
Following the incident, the blogger's account on the streaming service was switched to private mode, accessible only to existing subscribers. Funeral details have not yet been released.
