Indian pilgrims did not deliver tower-chariots
A pilgrimage to the Madduramma temple, organized as part of a religious festival in the city of Bangalore (Karnataka, India), was stopped due to a tragedy.
The bulky structure, which was more than 30 meters long, tilted and collapsed, hitting people. One pilgrim did not survive the fall of the tower. Another four people with injuries of varying severity were taken to hospital.
An eyewitness said that the devotees were dragging two chariots: one of the structures collapsed in the parking lot, and the other fell in the neighboring village of Rayasandr due to strong winds and rain.
“This incident marks the first time in the 100-year history of the temple,” said the organizer of the event, who was accused of negligence.
