A fatal penalty: a teenager hit the ball with his chest and died

16-year-old goalkeeper Edson Lopes Gama, who plays for an unnamed amateur Brazilian club from the state of Amazonas, died during training.
The goalkeeper saved a penalty, felt a sharp pain and was unable to get up on his own. The ball hit the goalkeeper in the chest - between the sternum and the diaphragm.
The training took place in a remote rural area, teammates decided to take the injured goalkeeper to a medical facility by car. The journey took 11 hours, doctors were unable to save Gama.
Relatives of the deceased footballer said that the Brazilian did not have heart problems. Gama's family came to the funeral in T-shirts of the club "Gremio", for which the goalkeeper supported.
