In an American prison, a black prisoner was beaten to death
Black-lives-matter activists are already threatening large-scale protests.
The brutal beating took place at the Marcy Correctional Facility in Oneida County on December 9, but footage from a guard's body camera was released by the local prosecutor's office on December 28.
43-year-old Robert Brooks was handcuffed and beaten by 13 guards and a medical worker. One of the guards kicked the African-American in the chest and began to choke him. The inmate died the next day in the infirmary.
The cause of death was asphyxia due to neck compression. Brooks had been serving his sentence since 2017, but was in a different penitentiary. He spent less than 24 hours in this prison.
It is reported that all 14 employees have already been fired from their positions, an investigation is underway.
At the same time, local BLM activists are already comparing Brooks' death to the killing of George Floyd by a police officer in May 2020 and are planning mass protests.
