In Alanya, a simple street dispute escalated into a violent brawl. Tourists and shopkeepers began punching each other in front of shocked passersby.
According to local media, the conflict erupted near a shop on Ataturk Street. A group of six British men got into an argument with a shopkeeper who was sitting at the entrance to his store.
At first, the two sides argued loudly. But the situation soon escalated, and physical violence ensued.
Video from the scene shows the shopkeepers surrounding the man. One of them headbutts him. Seconds later, the shopkeeper is punched and kicked and falls to the ground.
Other shopkeepers try to intervene, but their presence only escalates the conflict. Gradually, the fight escalates, involving more and more participants. Sticks and other improvised weapons are used.
A rock is thrown at the shopkeeper, who tries to fend off the attackers with umbrellas. The brawlers, oblivious to the cars, move onto the road.
Finally, the tourists, finding themselves outnumbered, flee to a nearby hotel, just as the police arrive.
Several people were reported injured.
Authorities closed the store for three days. Investigators are looking into the cause of the incident.
