It is reported that there may be more than 20 people in the cabin.

In St. Petersburg, on the Moika embankment, a passenger bus lost control, crashed into a car, broke through a fence and fell into the water.

Presumably, there were more than 20 passengers in the cabin. Rescuers are working on the spot. Concerned citizens also got involved - they are helping to pull people out through the hatch on the roof of the sunken bus.

Four victims have already been taken to the hospital. Five deaths are reported, but this data has not yet been officially confirmed.

The situation was taken under control by the Governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov:

In connection with an accident on the embankment of the Moika River involving a bus: employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the City Administration, ambulance services and employees of the Health Committee are working on the scene. The victims are provided with prompt assistance. I coordinate personally.

The moment the bus fell into the Moika River.

The bus driver is 44-year-old Rakhmatshoh Kurbonov, an employee of the Taxi company. A native of Tajikistan with Russian citizenship. He was detained and taken to the hospital under escort. A criminal case has already been opened into the accident. Here's what an eyewitness said:

My friend and I were standing in a traffic jam, when suddenly we heard a roar somewhere in the distance, and then we saw how the bus demolished the car sharing and, breaking through the fence, fell into the water. We turned around, abandoned the car on the sidewalk, and the guys who are casually called migrants did the same. But these guys are heroes, without a shadow of a doubt they wanted to jump off the bridge in what they were wearing, but I stopped them, since diving from such a height is dangerous. While they were carrying the rope, the driver surfaced, he was in shock and did not understand what to do. We shouted at him to tear off the sunroof on the roof of the bus, but he did not react.

According to Part 5 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Violation of traffic rules resulting in the death of two people”, a bus driver who lost control faces up to five years in prison. At the moment, 4 dead and 6 injured in that accident are reported.
