Air India pilot took drugs before flight and nearly caused a disaster Plane crash
24 passengers were injured. The airline concealed the causes of the emergency until the very last moment.
The captain of an Air India passenger aircraft bound from Phuket to New Delhi decided to sample Thai marijuana before the flight, nearly causing a plane crash.
The incident occurred on August 4 on flight AI 2379. It is reported that the captain stopped flying the plane at some point, causing the aircraft to descend sharply. Passengers who were not buckled up were thrown from their seats and sustained injuries. A total of 24 people were injured, including four crew members, 17 of whom required hospitalization.
According to media reports, the pilot lost self-control and required urgent assistance, which was provided by the flight attendants. A plane crash was averted thanks to the co-pilot, who took over the controls and safely landed the aircraft at its destination.
It is claimed that the airline tried until the very end to conceal the true cause of what happened, claiming that the plane had simply encountered turbulence. However, an investigation into the incident revealed that the captain had consumed marijuana before departure, and subsequent testing confirmed the presence of narcotics in the pilot's blood.
What punishment awaits the pilot has not been reported. The airline will clearly face repercussions as well, with multimillion-dollar lawsuits expected from the victims.
